How do I list something for sale?

Once you’ve got a Trunk account, you just need to make a listing for your item, complete with a description and photos, and then set your price and postage options.

How do payments on Trunk work?

When a purchase is made, Trunk holds onto the payment until the item is received by the buyer. Once the buyer confirms they’ve got the item and it matches its description in the original listing, we release the funds to the seller.

All purchases on Trunk are made through Stripe, a secure payment platform used by sites such as Shopify, Amazon and Google.

How do I buy something?

Just take a look through our listings. If something catches your eye, hit buy. We’ll hold onto your payment and won't release it to the seller until you confirm you’ve received the item, and that it matches its description on the sale listing. 

Note that you can browse our listings to your heart’s content without needing to sign up, but if you want to actually buy something you’ll need to sign up for a free Trunk account.

Is it safe to buy and sell on Trunk Style?

We’ve done our best to make things as safe and secure as we can – for both buyers and sellers. 

All accounts on Trunk have been verified, ensuring they’re linked to an actual person whose real name we have on file.

When someone makes a purchase, we don't release the payment to the seller until the buyer confirms they’ve received the item and that it matches its description.

Finally, our review system helps highlight people who have a proven track record of being upfront and dependable. After every transaction, buyers and sellers get the opportunity to rate each other – to give you a sense of just how reliable the person you’re dealing with is.

How does shipping and pick-up work?

When someone lists an item they can choose to include whatever shipping options suit them – which could include pick-up, standard postage or express postage.

Any shipping costs are calculated automatically using Australia Post’s shipping fees, with shipping charged to the buyer when a purchase is made.

Shipments are tracked right here on the Trunk site. Both the buyer and seller get delivery notifications, and can track the progress of a shipment.

What happens if something I bought wasn’t as described? 

If something you bought doesn’t match the way it was described in the listing, you should let Trunk know right away. 

We’ll be in touch to assess the situation, and if we agree that the item isn’t as described, we’ll guide you through returning the item so you can get a full refund.

Can I return something if it doesn’t suit me? 

Sales on Trunk are essentially final – you can’t return something because you changed your mind, or because the style or fit doesn’t suit you. 

What you can do in those situations is relist the item on Trunk.

How does Trunk make money?

We take a 10% commission on every sale made on the Trunk site. An additional 10% is applied to postage to help cover Trunk’s upfront expenses and service fees. And that’s it.

We don’t charge account keeping fees, and we definitely don’t share our users’ data with any shady digital marketing companies.

What does Trunk do with my data?

We use it to make sure you’re a real, valid person when you sign up, and we keep your details on file to calculate shipping costs, and so you can make purchases or get paid through the Stripe payment platform. 

Aside from that, we never share your data with anyone.
