How to buy on Trunk

First time here? Let’s get you situated. 

We’ve done our best to make things as simple and streamlined as possible, and to take the anxiety out of buying pre-loved fashion. Here’s how it works.

Look for your look

You don’t even need to have a Trunk account to browse through the collections. Take a peek and see if you find a look that speaks to you.

Get an account

Once you’ve got something you’re interested in, you’ll need to set up a Trunk account. Just hit the link below and follow the prompts – it shouldn’t take more than a few minutes.

Make your purchase

Our purchase process is pretty standard – put the thing in your cart, put in your shipping address, yada yada yada. 

Your payment goes to Trunk, and we hang on to the funds until you confirm the thing you bought is in your hands, and was accurately described in the listing.

You might have an option on whether you want to have the item shipped or picked up (depending on what the seller has allowed on their listing). 

For shipped items we calculate the shipping costs automatically, based on where you and the seller are.

Organise your pick-up

If you chose to pick the item up, you and the seller will need to sort out a time and place to do the handover. It’s best to use Trunk’s messaging platform for this, to keep Trunk in the loop on what’s going on with the sale.

Let us know it all worked out

Once the item’s supposed to have been delivered or picked up, you’ll be prompted to confirm that (a) you did actually receive it and (b) it matches the way the seller described it in their listing. Once you give the thumbs up, we’ll release the funds to the buyer.

Review your seller

Once the dust has settled, take a minute to rate your seller and leave a short review on how they did. Hopefully your seller will review you too, so you can build your profile on Trunk.

Hit a snag?

If you encounter a problem – like not receiving an item, or having it not match up with what you were supposed to get – just let us know. We’ll use the details you give us to suss out the situation. 

If it looks like you didn’t get what you paid for, we’ll guide you through returning the item (at the seller’s expense) and give you a refund.

Fit didn’t work out?

If the fit or style doesn’t suit you, you can just relist the item on Trunk. If you relist it within 36 hours of receiving it, we’ll waive our usual selling fee.
