Writing a great description
A good description does two things: it grabs your attention, and it gives you the info you need. Here are a few tips to get you writing right.
Be clear and concise
Focus on the key details – the size, colour, brand and material – without too much extra fluff.
Highlight the key features
What makes your item unique? Call it out. (And don’t forget to highlight it in your photos as well.)
Use descriptive language
How’s it feel to wear the item? What does the texture feel like? What kind of event would you wear the item at? If you can get the buyer imagining themselves wearing it, you’re halfway there.
Include measurements and condition
The details matter: be specific and exact about the item’s size or dimensions, and be accurate when it comes to the item’s condition.
Use bullet points
People don’t want to scan through a giant block of text – break up your description with bullet points to make it easier to read at a glance.
Be authentic
People tend to respond better to a personable, engaging tone. Try ditching the impersonal approach, and instead talk about the item the way you would to a friend.
